Looking through a magazine, you can find inspiration on nearly every page. It may be the colours, the shapes, the way things are put together or just the typeface used.
Below I’ve shown a couple of adverts which caught my attention in some way and I’ll show you how I used them.
On the advert above, I loved how everything was contained within the silhouetted image. In it’s simplest form I wondered how it would be if I created a stencil to stamp inside right on the front of a card.
I cut a shape using a die cutter and placed it in position over the card taping it down to the table.
I inked inside the shape with Color Box chalk ink and used a stippling brush instead of a sponge to get a much softer finish.
From the original advert I also liked the tree on the left and the colours used so I took these ideas too and stamped inside the stencil.
This is the finished card. I added some colour to the stamping with my Faber Castell Big Brush pens, added a border and ribbon and some sparkly bits.
For this card I used stamps from Wishing You Sunshine and a Tree for all seasons and inks from Color Box Limited Edition chalk ink in Sea Crystal and Arctic Deep and Pigment ink in Lime and Marigold.
In the advert below the thing which I really liked about it was the use of circles and the random way they were just dotted about on the page. I also liked the colours that were used together and decided to recreate them on my card.
I got out all of my MSB stamps which included circles and just stamped away on some white card. They were all stamped using Color Box Limited Edition pigment inks and embossed over the top.
I finished it off with some blue and white card, bakers twine and a small red charm.
Stamps used are : Itty Bitty’s, Seal It, Bottle Caps and Funky Circles.
Inks used : Color Box Limited Editions pigment ink in Wheatgrass, Bluejean and Cranberry.
